We asked National Rider, Ethan Hoffman what he thought about the latest Double Header at the MX National in Pietermaritzburg on 26 and 27 September 2020
Day 1: I came into the Pietermaritzburg National a little nervous not knowing what to expect since COVID made us come to a stand still for 7 months, I got a really good start in race 1 coming out second, I got severe arm pump and couldn’t keep the pace of the leader and finished a solid 4th. In race 2 I got an ok start, but ended up crashing into a rider, I came from last to seventh which I was pretty happy with.
Day 2: was a lot more tough, in the first race, I was second in the start and faded from lap one, I just couldn’t keep the pace of top 5. In the second race I got a terrible start and was almost last into the first corner, the track conditions were very wet and slippery. My Roll off goggles got stuck and I had to throw them off the track forcing me to finish the race without any goggles, no excuses it was the same for everyone! Really grateful for the opportunity and will keep working hard to keep improving.
